Just watched "Sicko" - I know its not biased as also been told about how bad your government medical system is by Americans.
In New Zealand we aren't perfect, but our public hospitals have brilliant doctors and nurses, hospitals are free for having our babies.
We have after care help through an organisation called plunket that help new mums deal with baby queries and making sure they are healthy.
And if an operation goes wrong in a private hospital they are raced to Auckland hospital (yes public) where they have better facilities.
If your child is under 5 years of age taking them to see a doctor is free.
Medication is subsidised, although not always the best of the drugs.
Don't get me wrong, we have grossly large waiting lists for operations. My Uncle waited 6 + months to get a quadruple heart bypass. But America this was free.
New Zealand is not a communist country.
After seeing how your government / health system / insurance companies treat you - I'm happy I live in New Zealand.
Its not what you can you for your insurance companies but what they should be doing for you.
