slap on the hand USA

I could not believe my ears. We hear on the news some nutter in your country made a song called "Barrack the magic negro", please tell me it is the 1st of April.

I think Obama won for many reasons:

Sure, he may have got some votes because it stopped African Americans having the excuse of their colour not to achieve, but Oprah also has that honour and many other Actors, Doctors, Lawyers, Comedians etc etc.

He is:
Clean
Young
Handsom
Has a lovely looking family
Some one who people could be proud to say that he represents their country
Well spoken
As Mc Cain kept repeating (supposedly as a negative) he does not know how they play the game
He is believable
and
Intelligent

And little boys having temper tamtrums should be sent to their room with no supper, not given a microphone

To quote an intelligent American

George Bush just said something off the bat and intelligent....

Giving me a bit more faith in the people who actually voted for him.
After shoes being thrown at him ...

"Don't worry about it," the president said as the room erupted into chaos.
......"So what if the guy threw a shoe at me? I did not feel threatened by it, these journalists here were very apologetic.......but that's what happens in free societies, where people try to draw attention to themselves."

There is hope for him yet.

Dumb A** me

Have you ever bumped into an old friend? Said hi, could not wait to catch up with them and gave them your details, not got theirs. Thought later that your actions of not getting their details may have made them think that you really did not want to stay in touch. Well thats what I have done. I bumped into an old friend from high school. And I have not heard back from Danielle even though Danielle was the one who suggested getting together for a coffee. What a dumb a** I am, I really wanted to be able to invite her and her family to our wedding also.

What annoys me -

In response to one of the ministers on T.V. Christian services, when he said that Christians should not drink alcohol at all.

Please don't get me wrong. I believe also that there is a lot of evil in alcohol when abused.

But Jesus drank wine.
Last Supper: Where Jesus says basically next time I drink wine with you will be in heaven.
Matthew 26:20-29
Mark 14:17-25
Luke 22:14-23
John 13:18-30

Deuteronomy 7:13
Deuteronomy 14:26
Isaiah 25:6
Judges 9:13

In fact, the word 'wine' occurs 37 times in the New Testament and is only used negatively (in association with drunkenness and excess) on 7 of these occasions!
from http://www.ukapologetics.net/1NEW.htm

Luke 7:33-34 - This passage says John the Baptist did not drink but Jesus did.

A few thank yous and referrals for a victorian wedding

WHITE-SATIN-CORSET
Great corsets - strong and comfortable and won't fall to bits after a bit of wearing. And the best part a third of the cost of other quality corsets.

Prime had the great global warming on tv tonight then a special after it to debate it

I must say I was not that impressed.
1) There were 3 for global warming and 2 non believers of global warming
2) Only 1 scientist against global warming
3) 1 green peacer who had no understanding of the facts at all
4) Neither side showed facts
5) The 2 scientists (for global warming) are being funded by the government and would not have jobs if there is no such thing.
6) The other 2 scientists who believe in global warming had not done their own study and one of them commented that the studies show the natural cycle and yet the graphs are still slowly going up, but the graphs in the program did not back that.
7) The one scientist who did not believe in global warming was great and also had his name showing as believing in global warming, he does not. He has done his own studies in sea climate and is not being funded by the government, and supports the documentary.

I decided to do a bit of googling on the info given by these experts.

Like the signing of scientist who don't approve global warming.
1) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oregon_petition#Signatories
"The Oregon Petition was the fourth, and by the far the largest, of five prominent efforts to show that a scientific consensus does not exist on the subject of anthropogenic global warming"

2) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heidelberg_Appeal
"The "Heidelberg Appeal" (also from 1992), signed by over 4000 scientists including 72 Nobel Prize winners.[48] This appeal makes no mention of climate change or any other specific environmental issue, but is essentially a plea for policy based on "scientific criteria and not on irrational preconceptions"."

3)
http://www.petitionproject.org/gwdatabase/GWPP/Frequently_Asked_Questions.html
A current petition with over 31,000 signatures by including 9,000 plus signers with PhD's
The petition -
"We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December, 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind.

There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth. "

So I am still a believer that this is a natural cycle, and these are some of my reasons -

ooohhh look at all the ups and downs on these 3 charts **** Note the dates ****

Question for the world

Would anyone out there be interested in a humanity tick?
I mean a website that celebrates companies that look after their staff in countries where they don't have to - like good working conditions, hours and reasonable pay.
The tick on their website would have direct link to a website that has links to other companies who also look after their staff, and explain the humanity tick.
Or if anyone knows a website out there already doing this please also comment.

I have come across an annoying problem with vba code (in MSAccess)

I have come across an annoying problem with vba code (in MSAccess)
because I am wanting to make the command prompt open admin items like active directory and remote desktop with sign in as password after entering the admin username in a form.

This almost works except for one problem, if the mouse moves off the command window (command.com or cmd.exe) the code for send keys stops working and I am having trouble finding another way around this issue as call shell does not seem to like the amount of code. So please comment if you know a way round this please.

sample code below;

Option Compare Database
Option Explicit

Private Sub cmdUserNameAuckland_Click()

Dim PauseTime, Start, Finish, TotalTime
Dim p As Variant
Dim adminUsername As String

adminUsername = txtUserName
Call Shell("c:\windows\system32\CMD.EXE", vbNormalFocus)

PauseTime = 5 ' Set duration.
Start = Timer ' Set start time.

Do While Timer <>
DoEvents

Loop

Finish = Timer ' Set end time.
TotalTime = Finish - Start ' Calculate total time.

SendKeys "cd c:\", True
SendKeys "{ENTER}", True
SendKeys "runas /user:domainname\", True
SendKeys adminUsername, True
SendKeys " ", True
SendKeys """mmc dsa.msc /server=server""", True

I have the bestest idea - pitty I don't have a shop

Time to fight back you physical shops.

Online shops - people order what they want, and then have it sent to the gift recipient.

well you physical shops - why don't you take the opportunity to take advantage of letting customers buy what they want, fill out the card in their own hand writing choose the wrapping paper and you send the gift for them? :-)

Love your mate Suz :-)

weigh in again

138.8 but not doing so well on keeping to the 1200 calories a day.

Thinking of the saying "move it or loose it"
I think there are 2 ways the body can stay warm
moving it - shaking or shivering or exercising
or
loosing it (as in loosing muscle and loosing your shape) - but insulation or fat

I am trying the move it option this winter, when I am at home or alone I am purposefully moving or tensing muscles or shaking.

Has already helped me go from 140 pounds this week to 138.8 while eating everything I love till I'm full, although exercise has this other lovely factor, you don't feel so hungry.

My deepest condolences Mr Bray and family and friends

"These were kids of excellence," Mr Bray said at Elim Christian College yesterday.

"We have lost some amazing difference-makers, some role models, and my daughter was one of them."

Mr Bray, who has been on dialysis for 17 years and is awaiting a kidney transplant, said he had asked Natasha about the rain hammering the Tongariro region.

"She said, 'My good friend Portia (McPhail, who was in the group and also died) said we have got this little saying that says we are going to jump in puddles, Dad.

"She said, 'What I mean by that is even if it is bad, we are going to make the most of it'.

"That is what my daughter and Portia were like.

"And I guess that is what all the parents are trying to do right now. We are going to try and jump in puddles."

just an idea

instead of fighting the torrent sites -

How about using them to gage customer viewing levels - you know what people actually like?
and put the advertising in the television programmes? - yes let Joey drink coca-cola and Homer go to Dennys.
Popular programmes would florish, crappy ones would die. The viewer would not be constantly insulted by their favourite shows dieing because some big wig thought they knew better. eg Jerico that has gone by the way side and firefly, and god knows how many other great shows that have never reached little New Zealand.
Advertisers could pay the programmes based on how many people want to download their shows, yes advertisers could actually find out how many people were actually viewing their product.
And finally the viewer would have the biggest say in what they could view.

Why enjoying your food will allow you to lose weight

When ashamed of eating food, we need to eat fast, or pretend we aren't eating (watching television etc). Not allowing our brains to work out that we have eaten, so our brains keep telling us that we are hungry. Many publications tell us that it takes 20 minutes for our stomachs to tell our brains that we are full, so we need to eat slower. So enjoy that steak, don't just eat it, chew it, taste it.

If we think about this it makes so much sense, because our bodies would prefer to be healthy and ideal not over weight and not under weight. Just very logical.

Reasons why diets don't work and we gain weight

When your brain believes that it is being deprived, the metabolism slows down,
so after coming off the diet it comes back on faster.
The want of food becomes heightened, your body is trying to survive.
You crave foods you enjoy and can't have.

Simple version of the 8 rules

1. Eat breakfast
2. Enjoy what you eat
3. Stop eating 4 hours before you going to bed

Saturday, April 05, 2008

Well first weigh in for these rules

5th April 2008 138.9 pounds

I'm going to try being a rules girl (Suz's food rules that is)

My Rules are:

1. Eat Breakfast.
2. When you're hungry, eat. Are you hungry? leave it 10 minutes if still hungry eat.
3. Eat what you want.
4. Enjoy what you are eating, savor each bite, chew at least 20 times.
5. If you find its not an enjoyable experience stop eating.
6. Eat consciously.
7. When you're full, stop. Eat slowly to ensure that you stop at the right time.
8. Don't eat 4 hours before bed.

I bought the book, but obviously not read the instructions - till reading this intelligent article from http://www.roanoke.com/columnists/nair/wb/155882

"McKenna's first four "Golden Rules":

1. When you're hungry, eat.
2. Eat what you want.
3. Eat consciously.
4. When you're full, stop.

Well, those seem like fairly simple rules, but McKenna elaborates. By "eat what you want," he means don't deprive yourself. By "eat consciously," he means set down your utensils after every bite, chew slowly and don't watch TV or read while eating.

McKenna maintains that if you chew your food slowly and concentrate on the flavor for at least 20 chews, you will feel full sooner and eat less food."

Saturday, March 29, 2008

weigh in today

Going back down again :-)
22nd March 08 - 140
29th March 08 - 137.6

Decided to change the bridesmaid dress to something heaps better

http://bekakostumes.com/victorian2.htm
found at this site - My bridesmaid dress will look more like the one at the bottom but the colour will be a slight off white colour. Don't let their website fool you, they are still around and can be contacted on info@bekakostumes.com (great prices) - their webmaster is sorting out the link breaks. Kathy is great to communicate with.

and my dressing is looking great. Sally is a brilliant communicator and seamstress, it will have 3/4 sleeves with lace on the sleeves and a squared lace neckline. I just love it. Sally's website is http://www.sallycdesigns.com/Our_Products.html

Silly me - my reply to my comment on the 23rd Feb 2008

I have screen dumped what I actually said, as most people don't have Japanese characters software.

I thought I would try babel fish because I knew what I was saying.
It came out with rubbish. Be warned when using babel fish.

I put in the first part of my message to Soliton. Which says in English.

"Sorry/Excuse me. I speak a little Japanese. How do you do. Good evening Soliton."

It came out with...

I contacted them, they told me to speak to Systran who is actually trying to sell this software commercially. I would not use their software, heaven knows what I have been saying to people thinking that babel fish was at least partially correct. *frowns*

Although my fiance Richard, seems to be having more luck with English to French and back again.

Weigh in

OMG - not happy with myself, I weighed in at 140 pounds again. Back to spark people with my tail between my legs. I have to remind myself this is only a step back not a fall off the wagon. I have after all still lost 40 pounds. I just want to loose that 20 pounds again as well.

integrity

Here I am in bed watching the movie "Super Volcano" and the lead actor had been asked to say that it was going to be smaller than they thought it was going to be. I know this is just a movie, but I have experienced this type of thought process over and over again.
Reminding me there are more important things than making money and anything else than being honest and keeping your integrity. I very strongly believe in honesty, integrity and I am not sorry if sometimes this is an annoyance for some people.

Orange Blossom head dress for victorian wedding

I finally found what I wanted to see and hear.
Princess Alexandra wore artificial orange blossom in 1863
and another site saying if orange blossom was not available they used wax orange blossom
So I've decided to order through these people who seem to be the only people on the net who sell good looking replicas and even kits for either wreath, half wreath and hair comb. I've order the wreath kit, as I can change my mind as long as I have the sprigs of orange blossom available.

Soo sick

Ever since getting back from round the bays, my stomach has been churning and my head pounding, I know I have been to the toilet at least 10 (trying to be on the conservative side so there are no embellishments). I am sooo tired, but my stomach would wake me in another 15 minutes or so, So I thought I would try and keep my mind off it by looking at trade me (still trying to sell my wedding dress), and blog how I'm feeling.
I'm going to have to call in sick today.

Round the bays

Had a great time. Although not as good as last years run, this time I think I'm going to find I am 10 minutes longer, I ran the whole way this time. Got back home to a sore head and a bad stomach. I am hoping I will be better tomorrow.

Back to an oldie but a goodie diet

All healthy diet, with low carbs, with seafood and vegetables and fruit (and trialling a few types of nuts in my diet also) very yummy, allowing now for offerings of food, not feeling so bad about having to say no to people cause I have enough free calories in the day to accommodate the extra calories. I am going down on the scales again, with my highest weight over the last 2 weeks being 138 pounds, this morning after 3 days on this diet I weighed in this morning at 134.8
I am still with www.sparkpeople.com and might be for the rest of my life.

Also after finally sending my measurements through for my wedding dress Sally has started on it.
I am very excited to see what she comes up with http://www.sallycdesigns.com/Our_Products.html
from what I see she is an excellent dress maker.

I am trying to find a great going away dress

Cause I thing the people at the airport may look at me rather strangely if I check in for my honeymoon in an 1886 wedding dress. And harder still trying to sit in a plane seat in a bustle.

So since we are going to phuket was thinking of a dress that Richard would more prefer to see me in and sayes that I just got married, but also is comfortable for the trip and I can wear again. I have been look at "beach wedding dresses" for this.

I have found some cool sites with the second one in this list with heaps of great looking low cost wedding dresses for all styles of wedding.

Siesta Beach Short Informal Beach Wedding Dress

Cheap Wedding Dress,Bridesmaids Dress,Flower Girl Dress,Chinese Dress: Beach Wedding Dress Lf-088

The first link design is what I am aiming for.

This morning I did something about the

broken capillaries on my face. I went to the caci clinic at Pakuranga plaza and after 30 mins of a little bit of discomfort, walked out without most of the unsightly veins on my face. Amazing :-) not so much need to wear make up now.
The procedure used a very small needle that pulsed electric current to the vein, that cauterise,
I wont lie it is not an easy procedure, but if as a lady you have tried using an epi lady on your legs, well I don't think its half as painful as that. And a strange thing is if you have fillings you get a metallic taste in your mouth.
Even though my cheeks and ridge of nose are a bit red, I don't think the scarring looks much worse than the capillaries did. And I think the ridge of my nose look 100% better. :-)
Admittedly I don't think my cheeks were too bad, a bit of make up covered it ok, it was more my nose that I would have trouble covering with makeup.
Very impressed. Thanks Caci Pakuranga.

I have decided to sell my old wedding dress (from first wedding)

Its no use in my wardrobe, its very pretty so it should go to someone else who can take advantage of it.

Bought in 1999, I also don't think its right to still hold on to it with my wedding to Richard getting closer.

Having a Victorian wedding - 1886 to be precise

Well pulling all of this together has been a lot of study - and lots more to go.
Wedding gowns during the time could be white or just the ladies best dress, so our wedding is going to be a well to do family wedding. I will be in a pale ivory dress.

Here are examples of dressing and wedding dresses around the 1870's - 1880's period
http://www.cwrl.utexas.edu/~ulrich/19cdress/70s&80s.htm
My bridesmaid will be wearing a natural colour to compliment my wedding dress as bridemaids back then wore the same colour as the bride.
example of this http://cgi.ebay.com/1885-PRETTY-WOMEN-VICTORIAN-FASHION-WEDDING-BRIDE-PHOTO_W0QQitemZ140170919040QQihZ004QQcategoryZ14279QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting
To make sure I am correct in my googling I have ordered a book for victorian wedding dresses.
My dress is coming from
http://www.sallycdesigns.com/Our_Products.html
Her clothes are beautiful
Since ordering mine if one were interested in a plainer wedding - with more of a strict budget, this dress is most definately in lots of wedding photos I have seen also
http://satnspurs.com/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=439
for those who have more money
http://www.frocksofages.com/imperial_wedding_gown.htm
but I'm very happy with Sally and her lovely email manner and what I see of her dresses online
I can't wait for my dress to be made.

Lisa my best friend and bridesmaid will be wearing
a skirt similar to this but in natural colour so it looks white in the black and white photos (the actual skirt is no longer being sold)
http://recollections.biz/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=1083&Category_Code=TwillSkirts&Product_Count=10
and this is the blouse
http://recollections.biz/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=795&Category_Code=Blouses&Product_Count=1

Shoes are from this website which seem to be the best and cheapest boots that are closest to the time - example http://www.antiquedress.com/item1442.htm or http://www.vintagefashionguild.org/content/view/609/75/ This one (http://www.vintagefashionguild.org/images/stories/SoleProvider/14.jpg) but this is awfully hard to work this part out for the wedding dress because of the length of the dresses completely cover the shoes (well boots)

still wondering what to do about orange blossom in the hair, whether I should try for wax flowers or real orange blossom or replica flowers.

weigh in again

been a bit naughty again so 134.2 pounds

Saturday, February 23, 2008

well recently I have being doing research again

on veins. As they have been getting more apparent on the back of my legs and thighs, and more broken capillaries on my face.
I've been looking into laser and injection fixes.
But also been yet again trying to look at a natural alternative, but would very much like to have them gone by my wedding.
On the natural side there is great evidence for citrus bioflavonoids fixing veins. I have ordered venacure which has a very strong bioflavoniod in it called diosmin. But while waiting I have been trying EsterC with citrus bioflavoniods and I have been noting an improvement (slight but over the 3 or 4 days they are definitely looking better).

Well

after my birthday of splurging, my weight is 134.2, not too bad :-)

Friday, February 15, 2008

Wow

Yesterday was valentines day in New Zealand.
You should have seen the beautiful flowers and chocolates and a lovely candle.
I was very very spoilt. Then dinner at our favourite restaurant.
Well here is what the looked like. But you can't tell how actually long the roses are. (very long stemmed roses)

The best part was the card though. "Love you heaps, forever Richard"
I love you so much Richard, Thank you soooo much.

ok

My "Extended Customer Service Paper" got an A :-)
and unfortunately even though I have been very good on my diet, my weight is still
135.

I'm still considering giving my measurements for my wedding dress, but have asked that Richard make the corset very tight. I have every intension of being able to lose this extra weight over 7 months, it is after all only a pound every 2 weeks. And I have lost the first 5 pounds over the last 2 weeks.

Why get married? - So many people think this is backward thinking or need for security or legally helpful

I don't - I still believe in marriage. When asked why though, my thoughts aren't very clear or precise. In the process of clarifying the whys since society does not really care anymore.... here are my thoughts.

I will put them in bullet order so if one is considering looking at this for pros and cons it will be easier to pull out the bits they might agree with.

  1. Marriage is really a certificate to say that yes you have a reasonable chance of your coupling able to survive the years.
  2. The process of having to collaborate and get on with not just your husband or wife to be but the others important in your future husband or wifes life.
  3. Organisational skills to get the church, reception, honeymoon, invitations, transport, dress, makeup help with organisating future events that will have to be communicated between the two of you then also more than just the two of you when little feet start pattering around the house.
  4. Leads me to the next part, when capable of learning to communicate with your partner about about a mere wedding compared to both of your far more serious needs and wants for your offspring or even no offspring.
  5. Respecting each others differences that you may not have known about beforehand, for example that absolutely beautiful cruise you wanted to go on is not an option as he or she gets sea sick.
  6. Getting intimate in the bedroom is not how you make a bond so strong to last for life, to do that you can only honestly love someone after you know who they are and still love them. Finding out the very basics is a very good foundation. Basics? you say, yes I say;
    1. What is his/her favourite cake - wedding cake collaboration
    2. What is her/his favourite food - what choices will be made for the wedding breakfast
    3. Where he/she will not go, or won't be as comfortable going - honeymoon choices and options.
    4. Vows - where and what you both consider really important for the other to know (how much you love them, what you want them to expect from you)
    5. Thoughts on theology and/or the bigger picture of life - when working out where and how you want to get married eg church, flower garden, jumping a broom stick or crushing a glass under foot.
  7. Another very important point, why bother getting married as in time you will get to know this person. Well time is definately more important to a female obviously as the biological clock only ticks for a certain amount of time till it goes boom. And because of that would you prefer to know who you are coupling with before or after the little ones start running around? Coming from a split family this is a definate before answer from me. I don't want my children to be wondering what they did wrong when mum and dad break up.
  8. It does not stop your chances of separation but most of the time a 50% percent chance of breakup from a wedding out beats the very high chance of an out of wedlock breakup.

Weigh in today

133.8 still - better than up though

Sharing a funny bone

Telecom have this new ad theme going at the moment with these puppets, and the present advert going at the moment is these puppets are stuck in traffic.
Richard finds it kind of funny with the monkey/ape puppet is on the bus, trying to make conversation with a girls backpack that looks like a monkey, half way through conversation between the Ape talking to the monkey backpack the girl gets hungry so open the flip up part of the bag (the head), the ape puppet screams, then the girl pulls out a banana from the pink lined backpack and the Ape really screams.
The part I like comes from being able to laugh at myself.
The traffic jams is being caused by another "telecom toy" a Lion puppet that can't drive (I can drive mind due), he is getting flustered and cars are honking behind him cause he can't get out of their way trying to do a 300 point turn by the looks of things, on the phone to a friend of his. The lion is characterised as someone with a a lisp that can't say R's and says W's instead. So hes on his mobile phone taking to his friend "Wichard" as he has typed his friends name on his mobile. And he sayes something along the lines of "Oh my goodness Wichard, I am experiencing woad wage". It cracks me up. I find it so funny, cause I get so annoyed with the traffic in Auckland and I can really get wound up, sitting in the car talking to the other cars asking which wheatbix packet they must of got their licence from, especially those who must look at the funny little indicator symbol and either think its an optional extra or it must be something everyone else have to use. And my fiances name as you all know is Richard. At some stage I think I can imagine myself ringing Richard getting really annoyed with the traffic and saying.
"Oh my goodness Wichard, I am experiencing woad wage"
