Having a Victorian wedding - 1886 to be precise

Well pulling all of this together has been a lot of study - and lots more to go.
Wedding gowns during the time could be white or just the ladies best dress, so our wedding is going to be a well to do family wedding. I will be in a pale ivory dress.

Here are examples of dressing and wedding dresses around the 1870's - 1880's period
http://www.cwrl.utexas.edu/~ulrich/19cdress/70s&80s.htm
My bridesmaid will be wearing a natural colour to compliment my wedding dress as bridemaids back then wore the same colour as the bride.
example of this http://cgi.ebay.com/1885-PRETTY-WOMEN-VICTORIAN-FASHION-WEDDING-BRIDE-PHOTO_W0QQitemZ140170919040QQihZ004QQcategoryZ14279QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting
To make sure I am correct in my googling I have ordered a book for victorian wedding dresses.
My dress is coming from
http://www.sallycdesigns.com/Our_Products.html
Her clothes are beautiful
Since ordering mine if one were interested in a plainer wedding - with more of a strict budget, this dress is most definately in lots of wedding photos I have seen also

for those who have more money
http://www.frocksofages.com/imperial_wedding_gown.htm
but I'm very happy with Sally and her lovely email manner and what I see of her dresses online
I can't wait for my dress to be made.

Lisa my best friend and bridesmaid will be wearing
a skirt similar to this but in natural colour so it looks white in the black and white photos (the actual skirt is no longer being sold)

and this is the blouse

Shoes are from this website which seem to be the best and cheapest boots that are closest to the time - example http://www.antiquedress.com/item1442.htm or http://www.vintagefashionguild.org/content/view/609/75/ This one (http://www.vintagefashionguild.org/images/stories/SoleProvider/14.jpg) but this is awfully hard to work this part out for the wedding dress because of the length of the dresses completely cover the shoes (well boots)

still wondering what to do about orange blossom in the hair, whether I should try for wax flowers or real orange blossom or replica flowers.

well recently I have being doing research again

on veins. As they have been getting more apparent on the back of my legs and thighs, and more broken capillaries on my face.
I've been looking into laser and injection fixes.
But also been yet again trying to look at a natural alternative, but would very much like to have them gone by my wedding.
On the natural side there is great evidence for citrus bioflavonoids fixing veins. I have ordered venacure which has a very strong bioflavoniod in it called diosmin. But while waiting I have been trying EsterC with citrus bioflavoniods and I have been noting an improvement (slight but over the 3 or 4 days they are definitely looking better).

Wow

Yesterday was valentines day in New Zealand.
You should have seen the beautiful flowers and chocolates and a lovely candle.
I was very very spoilt. Then dinner at our favourite restaurant.
Well here is what the looked like. But you can't tell how actually long the roses are. (very long stemmed roses)

The best part was the card though. "Love you heaps, forever Richard"
I love you so much Richard, Thank you soooo much.

ok

My "Extended Customer Service Paper" got an A :-)
and unfortunately even though I have been very good on my diet, my weight is still
135.

I'm still considering giving my measurements for my wedding dress, but have asked that Richard make the corset very tight. I have every intension of being able to lose this extra weight over 7 months, it is after all only a pound every 2 weeks. And I have lost the first 5 pounds over the last 2 weeks.

Why get married? - So many people think this is backward thinking or need for security or legally helpful

I don't - I still believe in marriage. When asked why though, my thoughts aren't very clear or precise. In the process of clarifying the whys since society does not really care anymore.... here are my thoughts.

I will put them in bullet order so if one is considering looking at this for pros and cons it will be easier to pull out the bits they might agree with.

  1. Marriage is really a certificate to say that yes you have a reasonable chance of your coupling able to survive the years.
  2. The process of having to collaborate and get on with not just your husband or wife to be but the others important in your future husband or wifes life.
  3. Organisational skills to get the church, reception, honeymoon, invitations, transport, dress, makeup help with organisating future events that will have to be communicated between the two of you then also more than just the two of you when little feet start pattering around the house.
  4. Leads me to the next part, when capable of learning to communicate with your partner about about a mere wedding compared to both of your far more serious needs and wants for your offspring or even no offspring.
  5. Respecting each others differences that you may not have known about beforehand, for example that absolutely beautiful cruise you wanted to go on is not an option as he or she gets sea sick.
  6. Getting intimate in the bedroom is not how you make a bond so strong to last for life, to do that you can only honestly love someone after you know who they are and still love them. Finding out the very basics is a very good foundation. Basics? you say, yes I say;
    1. What is his/her favourite cake - wedding cake collaboration
    2. What is her/his favourite food - what choices will be made for the wedding breakfast
    3. Where he/she will not go, or won't be as comfortable going - honeymoon choices and options.
    4. Vows - where and what you both consider really important for the other to know (how much you love them, what you want them to expect from you)
    5. Thoughts on theology and/or the bigger picture of life - when working out where and how you want to get married eg church, flower garden, jumping a broom stick or crushing a glass under foot.
  7. Another very important point, why bother getting married as in time you will get to know this person. Well time is definately more important to a female obviously as the biological clock only ticks for a certain amount of time till it goes boom. And because of that would you prefer to know who you are coupling with before or after the little ones start running around? Coming from a split family this is a definate before answer from me. I don't want my children to be wondering what they did wrong when mum and dad break up.
  8. It does not stop your chances of separation but most of the time a 50% percent chance of breakup from a wedding out beats the very high chance of an out of wedlock breakup.

Sharing a funny bone

Telecom have this new ad theme going at the moment with these puppets, and the present advert going at the moment is these puppets are stuck in traffic.
Richard finds it kind of funny with the monkey/ape puppet is on the bus, trying to make conversation with a girls backpack that looks like a monkey, half way through conversation between the Ape talking to the monkey backpack the girl gets hungry so open the flip up part of the bag (the head), the ape puppet screams, then the girl pulls out a banana from the pink lined backpack and the Ape really screams.
The part I like comes from being able to laugh at myself.
The traffic jams is being caused by another "telecom toy" a Lion puppet that can't drive (I can drive mind due), he is getting flustered and cars are honking behind him cause he can't get out of their way trying to do a 300 point turn by the looks of things, on the phone to a friend of his. The lion is characterised as someone with a a lisp that can't say R's and says W's instead. So hes on his mobile phone taking to his friend "Wichard" as he has typed his friends name on his mobile. And he sayes something along the lines of "Oh my goodness Wichard, I am experiencing woad wage". It cracks me up. I find it so funny, cause I get so annoyed with the traffic in Auckland and I can really get wound up, sitting in the car talking to the other cars asking which wheatbix packet they must of got their licence from, especially those who must look at the funny little indicator symbol and either think its an optional extra or it must be something everyone else have to use. And my fiances name as you all know is Richard. At some stage I think I can imagine myself ringing Richard getting really annoyed with the traffic and saying.
"Oh my goodness Wichard, I am experiencing woad wage"

On the right track again

135 pounds and feeling more in control of my eating again.

Went iceskating and dinner with Richard and Richards aunty over on holiday on Saturday, beforehand we went to the travel expo and have booked a honeymoon (soooo many choices).

We have presently decided that Phuket would be nice to go back to, but may be looking at a different resort this time than last time. And might be doing a stop over in Singapore.
It is so beautiful on the resorts in Phuket, the people are so very nice and the best part is that we can afford a pretty good holiday :-).

all my doing,I will do all I can and to undo

I am now up to 138 pounds. I only have 15 more days to go for my self imposed measurements for my wedding dress. I know a bit of the weight will be water, because I retain heaps this week, but I can't blame this all on water. I am going back to 1200 calories again as I think trying to keep the lower calories is not helping.

I am thinking seriously about not weighing myself till the 15th, will see how I go with that one. I am listening to Paul McKennas I can make you thin self hypnosis cd again and thankfully one of my best motivators is back on telly again - the biggest loser. Those guys rock.
